Sara Ripley, MSc
New coach!
Sara is a former varsity basketball player turned triathlete who has always been active and passionate about sport. She got into running following her basketball career, tried a couple duathlons as a novice cyclist and then decided to learn how to swim properly. (She’s still learning!) After her first triathlon she never looked back.Sara has experience coaching high school varsity basketball, and U14 and U18 club basketball.
As a coach, she understands how important individually-tailored sessions and training plans are, as everyone is different and has different needs when it comes to training.
Outside of coaching and training, Sara is working on her PhD. She also loves music and is an avid concert-goer.
Sara is excited to help her clients reach their goals.

Kalli Hood, MSc
Head Coach
NCCP Triathlon Coach
Kalli has a Master’s of Science in Public Health and Epidemiology and is currently pursuing her PhD at Dalhousie University.
She has raced in short and middle distance triathlon and has qualified for Age Group Worlds in Sprint, Olympic, and 70.3 distances. Before triathlon, Kalli played varsity soccer & volleyball and has trained and competed in CrossFit.Over the past 10 years, Kalli has coached soccer and volleyball and more recently has turned her focus to triathlon. Kalli has coached strength & conditioning for varsity soccer teams, and 15+ athletes in various distances in triathlon and running.
As a coach, Kalli’s aims to provide you with the program required to be successful in achieving your goals in a way that aligns with your core values and preferences. Consistency is key, so best program for you is one that is enjoyable and sustainable long-term. -

Eric grew up a lifelong hockey player before running three half marathons from 2013-14 and eventually finding where he truly belongs in the athletic world in CrossFit, which he has been training, competing, and coaching in since 2015. During his time in CrossFit he has dabbled in olympic weightlifting, most recently finishing third in his weight class at Nova Scotia provincials in 2024. He has also done a super-sprint triathlon and enjoyed trying several other athletic endeavors. His passion is fitness that allows him to try things out if not just for fun!Eric received a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology from Dalhousie University in 2017 and in 2018 followed up on the goal of becoming a Certified Athletic Therapist and travelled to Calgary, Alberta to complete the Advanced Certificate in Athletic Therapy program at Mount Royal University. Throughout the duration of that program he was exposed to athletes and patients of many different sports and backgrounds, including football, soccer, volleyball, hockey, basketball, cross country, track and field, wrestling and even rodeo.
Since then, Eric has been back in Halifax and fully certified in 2021, starting a career at Young Kempt Physiotherapy and Ironstone Strength & Conditioning as a satellite clinic of Young Kempt Physio. He has seen athletes and individuals from all walks of life, has worked with Olympic Weightlifting athletes at the highest level all the way to elderly folks trying to maintain a healthy active lifestyle. Eric specializes in exercise-based injury prevention and rehabilitation and reconditioning following injury and has worked especially with CrossFitters and Weightlifters, Runners and Triathletes, Soccer and Ultimate Frisbee players, among many other athlete types. For the Triathlon community Eric can provide excellent strength programs to build and maintain strength and safety through the grueling high-volume training cycles and races.
Athletic therapists use a combination of exercise and manual therapy techniques to rehabilitate and recondition patients from a variety of injuries and pain to musculoskeletal structures, which include but are not limited to muscles, tendons, bones, ligaments, and nerves. Many Athletic Therapists are also strength & conditioning specialists. In addition to clinical skills, all Athletic Therapists are certified Sports First Responders, covering all sports on the sidelines, specializing in on-field and sideline assessments, return-to-play decision making, and protective taping and padding, and sideline concussion assessments.
